 Regardless of who was actually responsible for the snow (God), weather predictions (meteorologists), Atlanta traffic (population growth/outdated infrastructure/racist politics/Cobb County/rural Georgia voters), readiness and maintenance of interstates (Governor Nathan Deal), late closing of schools and shutdown of school buses (school superintendent), everyone's blaming Kasim Reed for this whole ATL #SnowJam2014 thing. I know why.

The MLK Holiday Is Not A Day Off1/20/2014  "Most of my heroes don't appear on no stamp!!" (but some do) An essay at Daily Kos is making the rounds on social media right now, with the author making a case that Dr. King ended terrorism for black people in the south. While I agree with that, and I'm not really sure anybody could deny it, you could argue that what really made Dr. King's legacy possible was a very simple factor--he worked hard.
 Just over a week ago, my uncle John Jordan passed away at 81 years of age. Just under a week ago, at his funeral, my father and I spoke for the first time in almost eight months.
 Soul. Get you some. Big, big shout out to my man Donovan X. Ramsey who put me on to this new blog from some of my favorite members of the rising new black intelligentsia, including Cord Jefferson of Gawker, Issa Rae of Awkward Black Girl, and others.
