ONE Musicfest 2014 went down Saturday, Sept. 13 at Aaron's Amphitheater in Atlanta. Here's a big cache of photos taken by yours truly from all sides of the stage.

There's not really much to say about this new (free!) mix from DJ Wax On, other than it goes ridiculously hard, especially considering it's actually a funked-out, brassy, pimp-walky super-cool collection of songs that come together to make just under 60 minutes of the flyest noise a player such as yourself could play, any day of the week.
Last night I finally got a chance to attend the 38th-annual Atlanta Film Festival, a week-long event where buzzy independent films, shorts and movie projects are screened at Atlanta's oldest operating cinema, the Plaza Theatre. I missed quite a few showings I really wanted to see (potty training a toddler makes your social life crappy in more ways than one), but catching the photo-documentary Through A Lens Darkly: Black Photographers and the Emergence of a People made up for everything I didn't get to see. Here's why you too should see this really cool project when it comes to your town.
This Face In My Dreams Seizes My Guts2/21/2014 Soul. Get you some. Big, big shout out to my man Donovan X. Ramsey who put me on to this new blog from some of my favorite members of the rising new black intelligentsia, including Cord Jefferson of Gawker, Issa Rae of Awkward Black Girl, and others.
You can read more about it here, but definitely check out the blog -- there are some incredibly incredible photos on there that justify the name . I won't be able to join "You Ain't Got The Answers" Trivia Night tonight due to standing obligations, but I'm betting it's going to be particularly black, meaning awesome. Turn that over-fried turkey into your next best breakfast ever Fried turkey is seriously overrated, mostly because it's almost always overcooked. Then, after every turkey-eating holiday, you have jerky-leather-like chunks taking up fridge space and you definitely don't want to eat it, yet you feel guilty about trashing it. That's where my mom's hash comes in to re-tenderize your post-holiday poultry and up-yum your remaining mornings of joy.
Elder R&B statesmen Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, The Isley Brothers, and Kem came through Chastain Park in ATL on Labor Day Sunday and turned up. Where were you? Probably recovering from a moscato hangover after some 2 Chainz party Saturday night. But your family (yes, yours) was in attendance, and boy did they do it big. Proof is in the slideshow.
