Tickets for tonight are sold out (I know--janky hearing about it now, huh?), but you should still be aware that there's a barbecue sauce-making class happening every month at D.B.A. Barbecue, taught by chef/owner Matt Coggin, who is a ridiculously awesome guy and guru of smoked/grilled meats. Here's what you're missing tonight (my bad!).

It's simple, if you have discipline, three hours to spare, a few kitchen tools and a bunch of ingredients.
Last Night At P'cheen2/9/2014 My favorite hangout in Atlanta had its final day of business this past Sunday. Here are a few of the photos I took as lots of people gave P'cheen International Bistro & Pub a proper sendoff.
Turn that over-fried turkey into your next best breakfast ever Fried turkey is seriously overrated, mostly because it's almost always overcooked. Then, after every turkey-eating holiday, you have jerky-leather-like chunks taking up fridge space and you definitely don't want to eat it, yet you feel guilty about trashing it. That's where my mom's hash comes in to re-tenderize your post-holiday poultry and up-yum your remaining mornings of joy.
MJ's Recipes: Sexy R&B Shrimp Scampi8/5/2013 My own take on what it takes to make the easiest difficult-looking shellfish pasta dish at home on a stay-in dinner date with that special somebody, some moderately decent (read: TJ's) wine, and of course, Pandora's Jodeci channel. Strictly for my stay-at-home-dinner-budget '90's babies and their significant others, and dig this: it's quite delicious. Learn from that.
Get my whole recipe, including song suggestions for certain appointed times during cooking/prep, from SweetJack.com's blog. And big shout-out to Lisa Michelle Image for making this dish look better than I've ever seen it with the photos she took. Sexy R&B Shrimp Scampi (originally posted April 26, 2013 at Blog.SweetJack.com) You don't get many chances these days to tell people there's a Donell Jones show tonight. As a former employee of LaFace Records, even I get pretty nostalgic and fan-happy remembering the '90s, when R&B singers still wore fedoras and suits, and sang songs that were just simple enough that dudes felt comfortable singing along.
Donell Jones is indeed back, celebrating a new album release and performing in concert tonight at The Shark Bar & Grille, a swanky/sexy ("swexy"?) new lounge renovated from the shell of what used to be The Pearl Bistro & Bar. Instead of the warmer, rustic-earth orange/gold/cream interior color scheme, there are now lush nighttime hues of deep blue, purple, and glossy black. The spot stays open until 3am on Fridays, Saturdays, and because why not, Tuesdays. Featured on the menu are pastas like Chicken and Sausage, a gargantuan $18 serving of Louisiana Gumbo with shrimp, crawfish, chicken and other gumboey things, and what they swear you'll say are the best catfish fingers in town, unless of course you've ever shaken Manti Teo's hand. Again, Donell Jones performs tonight -- I know, that's like three or four times now -- and I'd guess he's hitting the stage around 11pm or later. Get more info at The Shark Bar's Facebook page, get more info on the venue at SharkBarATL.com, and click Read More now to check out a gallery of interior photos. You know what's up.
